Journey @ 30000 feet

The concept for Journey @ 30000 feet  began on a flight from Nashville TN to Chicago IL in late 2010. Created from hand dyed Indigo and rusted fabrics, the process of making the quilt became a turning point in my arts practice. Developing the different perspectives (from the air, ground) and incorporating the changes of scale into the quilt top occurred over many days and return visits to my visual diary. The hand embellished top includes embroidery, buttons, thread-work and other symbols of occupation and landscape legacy.   The completed quilt was curated into the State of the Art Quilt 2011 Exhibition.
